Indica vs. Sativa

How do the different Cannabis Types and Strains compare to each other?

Both main types of cannabis, indica and sativa, are used for several medicinal and recreational purposes. Although in general, each has its traditional expectation of effect, Sativa has a primarily energizing effect, while indica relases you and can help you sleep, in reality, it is more of a personal interaction with your own particular body chemistry and other personal factors.

The Indica strains are known for their relaxing effects making them the choice for late evening medicating. Indicas have a sedative effect and are used for the treatment of anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, muscle spasms and tremors. Indicas have a higher level of cannabinoids than sativas which results in a more sedated body high giving a feeling of sleepiness and heaviness making them great for winding down at night.

The Sativa strains are mostly known for their uplifting and energetic effects making them extremely popular for daytime medicating. Sativas, being more of a stimulant, are effective for appetite stimulation, relieving depression, migraines, chronic pain and nausea. Sativas have a higher level of CBD than Indicas, which results in a psychoactive and energetic mind high giving a feeling of well-being and optimism.
